My call to midwifery

Working with women in birth has been a passion of mine since childhood. Although I started out with a Music History and Voice degree, the journey to midwifery began with doula training in 2001 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. There I did birth, postpartum and breastfeeding counselor work in the city.

In 2003, I married the love of my life, Chad Bjorgan. When pregnant with our second child, we felt called to the mission field and departed for Davao City, Philippines.

While there I was able to do my clinical rotation for the National College of Midwifery, while my husband did music ministry and water filtration projects with Impact Nations.

Upon graduation in 2009 our family returned to Canada, where I obtained my Lamaze Certification and taught prenatal classes through the local college. In 2011, we moved to Washington State where I began practicing midwifery as a licensed midwife.

Our family now consists of 6 beautiful children, most of whom were born at home. In 2016, we made the big move to Redding, CA where I helped open Redding Midwifery Group.  It has been a wonderful move for us and I am honored to work with families in this region!

Working with women in birth has been a passion of mine since childhood.
